About Misty Lane Farm
Why Choose Us
We are a small, Michigan farm, and do what we do because we love growing grass and raising lambs! We finish our lambs either with locally-grown (conventional) corn, high-protein feed pellets, and lush grass/legume mix pastures or Michigan-grown grass/alfalfa hay, depending on the season.
Lambs are never given any antibiotics or growth hormones. Ewes are well cared for and many have names, so are almost pets. Most lambs are born in a barn and we take care of our orphaned lambs. We occasionally sell bottle babies and guests often enjoy bottle feeding lambs when they come to visit.
Our 400 ewe flock is split into four groups and all are on an accelerated lambing schedule, which means each ewe has lambs three times in two years. Therefore, we are lambing six times per year, every other month. Managing these four group takes a lot of record keeping! Yet we find it works for us, keeping labor requirements and lamb sales consistent throughout the year.
