May Already?

Things are really progressing. The farmer who rents our land plowed the fields yesterday. The ducks are getting their white down and the chickens are thriving.

Our garden went through a dry spell, but there seems to be peas and greens coming up. The thunderstorm and rain last night should help. Of course, you know it rained because I watered the garden!

We have lilac bushes and what looks like an old-fashioned rose hedge blooming. A crab apple and old apple trees in the fence rows are also bright with flowers.

I was sent the house history by the former owner. I learned that in 1840 this property was one of the original land grants of Bunker Hill Township. The house was built in 1910 or so, block until 1/2 way up and no insulation under siding. The upright stone in the front yard is a head stone for the first owner’s beloved dog.

Since the house was built, it has gone through many iterations. The previous owners restored it beautifully and we are thankful for all their care and attention.

This month we’re looking forward to getting sheep!
